The Juan Gil-Albert Alicante Institute of Culture has launched the third call for 'Petricor' performing arts research residencies, an initiative aimed at promoting projects that contribute to the protection of the natural heritage of the province of Alicante.

This program, which will take place at the Santa Pola Marine Research Center (CIMAR), dependent on the University of Alicante, offers a total of 12,000 euros in grants, to be distributed among the two selected groups. In addition to the financial endowment, the chosen proposals will receive a free fifteen-day stay at these facilities specialized in the study and dissemination of the marine environment.

"From the Provincial Council, we are pleased to welcome this third edition of a powerful proposal aimed at promoting research and creation in the performing arts field of the province, which this year will also take place at CIMAR, the University of Alicante's headquarters for the study and dissemination of the marine and coastal environment."

Projects submitted must address themes related to environmental protection and enhancement, as well as the historical-artistic and anthropological heritage of the province, in line with the objectives of Agenda 2030. Proposals that delve into ethnography or the natural values of the surroundings will also be valued.
Each selected group will consist of four to six people, with profiles mainly linked to performing arts —such as theater, dance, or circus—, in addition to including at least one member from other disciplines such as biology, photography, or cinema. Each team will receive 6,000 euros to cover project execution costs, as well as living and travel expenses during the residency.
The residencies will take place between September 21 and October 15, 2026, and the deadline for submitting applications is June 8.
