Elche City Council and the public company Aena have formalized an agreement to implement a surveillance system using cameras at the access points to the Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport.

This initiative aims to improve mobility management in a key infrastructure for the Baix Vinalopó region. The system will allow for automatic license plate registration to control vehicle flow and regulate parking in areas where improper use of public roads has been detected.
According to municipal sources, the action is part of the digital transformation and smart mobility strategy promoted by the council. The goal is to optimize space usage, minimize congestion, and reduce pollutant emissions, all while ensuring compliance with personal data protection regulations.

"It is not about restricting nor is it for revenue collection purposes; it is to control the flow of traffic entering the airport and regulate parking on access roads where many cars are already parking incorrectly."

The project will provide objective information on the movement of vehicles such as buses, minibuses, and taxis, as well as the duration of stay in designated areas. This measure aligns with other traffic control actions being carried out in the municipality of Elche to organize mobility in high-traffic environments.
