“"We are going to diversify the rooms. We started with Altabix because it is one of the largest, with a capacity for 65 people. The next one will be in a district, but not until 2027, along with another in the urban area that we have to study. Some, like those in Baix Vinalopó, for example, have accessibility problems that also need to be resolved."

The Elche City Council, through the departments of Innovation and Youth, has presented a project to digitize municipal study rooms, starting with the Altabix room, with an investment of 145,000 euros and 24-hour access.
The project aims to transform the eight study rooms in the municipality, four in the urban area and four in the districts, into fully digitized spaces. These new rooms will not only be equipped with tablets, televisions, and computers, but will also feature compartments for meetings, rest areas, and soundproof rooms.
One of the main novelties is the 24-hour opening, made possible by a mobile application that will allow access and user registration. The first pilot project will be implemented in the Altabix room, with an upcoming tender and a four-month construction period for its launch in December of this year.
Beyond digitization, the initiative will also redesign the space to improve climatic and lighting comfort, including digital signage and smart lockers. Additionally, digital support elements will be installed for users who do not have their own tools.
The City Council has applied for a subsidy from the Ministry of Tourism and Innovation, through the Innovative Territories program, to cover the total cost of the action. If not granted, the city council will fully assume the investment.
