This initiative, set to begin in the coming days, aims to test the collection of cardboard and plastic using individual containers for each company. Collection vehicles will pass two to three times a week to verify operation and response. If successful, the system will be implemented throughout the business incubator and in other industrial parks in the area.
“"It would help ensure that the containers are less full than they are now, in addition to a more ecological collection, separating cardboard and plastics and alleviating the collection from the industrial park containers."
The Carrús Industrial Park community seeks to improve the image and infrastructure of the site, with a plan that is beginning to materialize thanks to subsidies from Ivace. In the medium and long term, the goal is to obtain the classification of a Management and Modernization Entity (EGM), a distinction that opens the door to larger aid packages.
This proposal is considered very interesting for companies, as many accumulate large quantities of cardboard that often do not fit into generic containers. For the cleaning contractor, it means a more rational collection and better selection for subsequent reuse. The community president reflects on the importance of extending this practice to other areas, such as organic waste, to improve the industrial park's cleanliness image.
There is no fixed timeline for the duration of the pilot program yet, but it will be expanded to other areas of the industrial park as it proves effective. If the overall results are positive, it could be extended to other industrial parks such as the La Alcudia Agri-Food Park. Currently, other industrial enclaves, such as the Elche Business Park, already have selective collection, including organic waste containers since last year.
Among other projects, the entity continues to push for actions funded by Ivace, such as the installation of video surveillance cameras and improvements in paving and roundabouts. Simultaneously, the City Council promotes interventions to improve accessibility and parking. Regarding the EGM, the perimeter of the companies has already been defined, and registration information for the more than 700 companies in the industrial park is being collected, seeking a simple majority of votes to request the declaration. The short-term goal is to make minimal improvements to make the industrial park more functional and visually appealing.
