Juan Carlos Cano Peñalver, born in 1962, was a pivotal figure in the social and sporting life of La Hoya. From the outset, he supported the creation and consolidation of the football team of the La Hoya Cultural and Sports Association, actively participating in numerous local initiatives.
His tragic death in a traffic accident in 1985 was a profound loss for the community. To keep his memory alive, various initiatives have been organized over the years, including the 'Juan Carlos Cano Memorial,' a football tournament that has connected generations of residents and athletes.
With this new designation, the Elche City Council highlights the commitment, participation, and community service that characterized Juan Carlos Cano's life, leaving a significant mark on La Hoya.
