The competition, organized by Dimove, the Association for the Defense of LGTBIQ+ Rights, aims to commemorate April 23rd, International Book Day, with stories addressing themes related to the LGTBIQ+ community. To celebrate its fifth anniversary, two independent prize categories have been established: a 200 euro check for the best work in Spanish and another of the same amount for the best submission in Valencian, totaling 400 euros in prizes.
The deadline for submitting micro-stories is April 30, 2026. Works must be original and unpublished, with a maximum of 250 words. Complete rules and the registration form are available on the association's website. As in previous editions, Dimove will publish a book featuring the selected micro-stories, in both electronic and print formats, to give visibility to the project.
The contest results are expected to be announced during June, coinciding with LGTBIQ+ Pride Month. A jury composed of three individuals connected to the community, activism, and LGTBIQ+ culture will evaluate the works, and their identities will be revealed along with the results to ensure impartiality.
In addition to the contest, Dimove, in collaboration with Librería La Manzanera, will offer a creative writing workshop to encourage participation. This workshop, free for Dimove members (and costing 5 euros for the general public), will take place next Tuesday, April 14, starting at 8 PM. Registrations can be made through the association's website.
Founded in March 2021, Dimove is a cultural and sports association that seeks to create safe spaces for the LGTBIQ+ community, promoting socialization, sports, and culture. It currently has around one hundred members and offers free weekly activities, including a dozen active sports groups and numerous recreational and cultural proposals.
