The gathering, which took place at the Bailongo Civic Center, brought together over 300 attendees, according to the organizers. During the event, topics such as misinformation about feminism, the situation of migrants, armed conflicts affecting women, sexuality, minors' access to social media, and cuts in equality policies and prevention of gender violence were discussed.
The three organizations stated that they have been cooperating at the municipal level for a year and presented themselves as an alliance against the «anti-feminist and anti-democratic direction» of the Elx City Council, governed by the mayor alongside Vox.
“"We advocate for feminist policies, combat fake news, and highlight the transformative role of feminism in improving the lives of all society."
Among the issues discussed was also the recent motion approved in the municipal plenary session to urge the repeal of the right to voluntary termination of pregnancy, an initiative that participants described as a setback in women's rights.
One of the speakers emphasized the importance of unity among progressive forces and warned that «rights are at risk» and can recede «at any moment». Another speaker defended the need for left-wing policies in the face of rising denialism and asserted that Elx can serve as an example to articulate a political alternative for the 2027 municipal elections.
