Compromís per Elx, Esquerra Unida, and Podem are organizing a joint event in Elche titled 'Feminism, antidote against fascism,' to advocate for feminism as a social tool.

Following their first joint appearance for the 2026 budget amendments, the left-wing political groups Compromís per Elx, Esquerra Unida, and Podem continue their collaboration. This Friday, April 21, 2026, they will host a public event at the Candalix Civic Center “El Bailongo”, at 7:30 PM.
The event, titled 'Feminism, antidote against fascism,' is presented as a gathering for feminist and anti-fascist demands. It will be moderated by councilwoman Esther Díez and feature political analyst Sarah Santaolalla and sociologist and politician Míriam Jiménez Lastra.

"Facing the international wave of hatred and attacks on equality policies carried out by this municipal government of PP and Vox, the left-wing forces are promoting this new meeting with experts Sarah Santaolalla and Miriam Jiménez Lastra to advocate for feminism as a tool for a freer society."

During the event, key issues will be addressed, such as the anti-feminist reactionary wave, traditional roles historically imposed on women, economic precarity, multiculturalism, feminism as an anti-war social struggle, sexuality, gender-based violence, and attacks on fundamental rights like abortion. The municipal spokesperson lamented the violation of the latter right by the mayor and his Vox partners in the last plenary session.
Admission to the event will be free and open, with no prior registration required, to facilitate broad citizen participation. The invitation is extended to all entities, associations, and collectives in the municipality, aiming to foster an open space for meeting, dialogue, and collaboration around public and political debate at the municipal level.

"Our duty is to continue moving firmly towards a freer, more egalitarian, more plural, and feminist society, and thereby collectively defend a real democracy. Therefore, we await you this coming Friday so that together, we continue building the future we deserve."
