This Monday, the redevelopment works officially began at the Plaza del Congreso Eucarístico in Elche, an initiative aimed at renovating the city's heritage heart with an investment of 2.9 million euros.

The project's main goal is to improve accessibility, standardize pavements, and increase tree coverage in the area. According to the planned schedule, the work will be carried out in sections over a period of 9 to 11 months, aiming to avoid disrupting local festivities or the operation of terraces, which will be relocated.
The intervention includes removing elements that obstruct the direct view of the Basilica of Santa Maria from points such as the Altamira Palace. Additionally, lighting will be unified, and a water feature evoking the sky of the Misteri d'Elx will be installed, raised a few centimeters above ground level.
Furthermore, fencing has been set up in front of the Central Market to begin the redevelopment of Plaza Menéndez Pelayo. This project also includes planting trees and renovating the pavement to integrate it with the building's interior, as well as studying improvements to the exterior doors to optimize climate control.
