The Socialist Municipal Group of Elche has urged the City Council to act promptly to benefit from the new State Housing Plan 2026-2030, approved by the Council of Ministers with 7 billion euros.
The socialist spokesperson, Héctor Díez, has called on the mayor to initiate contacts with the Generalitat Valenciana and the Ministry to attract funds. The objective is to boost the regeneration of the San Antón neighborhood, expand the public park of protected housing at affordable prices, strengthen urban rehabilitation, and activate rental aid, especially for young people.
“
"Much demagoguery has been made with San Antón, and now there are few excuses left: the Housing Plan allocates 30% of funds for rehabilitation and urban regeneration. It is necessary for the City Council to immediately present the next actions for the neighborhood so that the Government of Spain can participate, as it has done in blocks 1, 2, 3, and 4."
The spokesperson has positively assessed the approval of this plan, which he considers the most ambitious to date, with a total budget of 7 billion euros. The Government of Spain will contribute 60% and the autonomous communities the remaining 40%. Therefore, he has called for a quick reaction from the administrations with direct competencies in the matter.
Among the opportunities offered by the new state framework are the promotion of protected housing at affordable prices, urban rehabilitation and regeneration, direct rental aid for young people, and price containment in tense areas. These funding lines align with Elche's residential needs.
The PSOE has also emphasized the importance of creating a public park of protected housing with a permanent character, where the central Government can be involved in promoting housing that cannot be disqualified. This would strengthen a stable and protected residential offer.

"It is time to take action, to stop empty criticisms, to stop sterile confrontations and adhere to this plan so that Elche can benefit."
