Orihuela City Council has commenced repair works on two sections of the Cabo Roig Blue Trail, which had been closed for safety reasons for almost two months due to landslides.

The works, expected to last approximately two weeks, are being carried out by the municipal company Ecoplan. This action was made possible after obtaining the necessary authorization from the provincial Coast Service, which falls under the ministry, according to sources from the Department of Coast.
The landslides, which affected the promenade, occurred as a result of heavy rains last March. One of the most affected points is a section of the maritime trail running from Cabo Roig to Cala Capitán, where a partial collapse endangered the lower part, close to the coastline.
For this reason, a section of about 10 meters near the Marejada street viewpoint was closed. Despite the fences, users continued to pass, as there was no clear signage of the danger. The other affected point, near the Catalejo street viewpoint, was marked but not closed to pedestrian traffic, with a barely visible sign warning of the risk.
The Cabo Roig Blue Trail is a quality distinction achieved in 2021 and renewed annually, which values the recovery and protection of the natural environment, the services and infrastructures of the route, environmental education, and healthy lifestyle habits. It is one of the most highly rated coastal promenades in the Vega Baja, frequented throughout the year and included in the municipality's tourist routes.
