During his stay in the locality, the CVC representative was received by the councilor for Historic Heritage, with whom he held a working meeting and a tour of various areas of the old town. This visit is part of the Valencian Culture Council's commitment to learn about heritage recovery initiatives in different municipalities and analyze possible lines of collaboration in the cultural sphere.
The CVC president was able to observe several ongoing interventions, such as the archaeological remains in the municipal area and the project to enhance the Almohad House. He also visited the Rubalcava Palace, where the City Council is working on the development of the future City Museum as one of the municipality's cultural hubs.
The councilor for Historic Heritage highlighted that the meeting served to present the set of actions being promoted in the historic center. These are structured into different strategic lines that include the recovery of disused buildings, the restoration of monuments, subsidy programs for the rehabilitation of facades and heritage, and the creation of new management tools such as the consortium for the recovery of the historic center or the role of the municipal public company.
“"The president of the Valencian Culture Council showed special interest in the overall revitalization plan for the historic center, considered one of the most relevant in the Valencian Community, as well as in the cultural and artistic dimension of the ongoing projects."
Another aspect discussed was the promotion of ‘Orihuela university’, with the incorporation of new studies and the use of unused buildings for training purposes, a line that will begin to materialize from the next academic year. During the visit, the CVC president was open to establishing avenues of collaboration with the City Council, raising the possibility that the institution could hold conferences, lectures, or institutional events in Orihuela.
