A municipal group in Orihuela has presented a motion to urge the local government to review the electrical installations of educational centers and prepare classrooms for summer.

The political group has presented a motion to the next plenary session to demand the urgent review of the electrical installations in all educational centers in the municipality. The objective is to guarantee air conditioning in classrooms during the hot months and ensure the safety of students and teachers.
The group recalls that last winter many centers suffered heating problems due to faulty or unserviced boilers, leaving students and teachers in inadequate conditions. Now, with the arrival of high temperatures, they warn of an even more worrying situation, as numerous centers have gone years without passing an OCA review, the mandatory inspection that certifies compliance with safety regulations.

"Many electrical panels are obsolete and cannot support the load required by air conditioning systems. We have already seen classrooms in past years that have exceeded 35 degrees, and here we are not just talking about comfort, but about health and safety."

The group warns of the risk of fires, electrical failures, supply cuts, and health problems such as dizziness or heatstroke, as occurred on several occasions last year. Furthermore, they consider it essential that air conditioning be accompanied by the creation of shaded areas in schoolyards, especially in coastal centers.
Therefore, the motion requests a comprehensive review of electrical installations, guaranteed air conditioning in all centers, repair of existing systems, and the urgent creation of shaded spaces in schoolyards. The group emphasizes the importance of foresight and responsibility to prevent problems from directly affecting students and teachers.
