The Civil Guard has dismantled two heroin and cocaine dealing points in Torrevieja, which operated in a coordinated manner and were linked to an increase in local crimes, leading to 17 arrests.

The police operation, which began last February, was prompted by the detection of a surge in minor crimes in two specific areas of the municipality. Subsequent investigations linked various thefts, vehicle break-ins, violent robberies, and home burglaries to the activities of these drug distribution points.
According to the investigation, many of the perpetrators of these criminal acts were users who stole items to exchange them for doses of heroin and cocaine. The two selling points were located in different areas of Torrevieja but operated in a coordinated manner under the direction of a 55-year-old man residing in the town.
The Civil Guard maintains that both locations had become reference supply centers in the Vega Baja region, which had contributed to intensifying criminal activity in their surroundings.
One of these points also had significant security measures to hinder police action. These included the presence of 'lookouts' tasked with alerting about the presence of agents, armored doors with reinforced locking systems, surveillance cameras, and short firearms to protect the activity from potential rival groups.
After verifying the facts, on April 10, two home searches were carried out in an operation involving personnel from the Reserve and Security Group (GRS) No. 3 of Valencia and the USECIC.
As a result of the operation, 17 people were arrested, comprising 14 men and three women, aged between 23 and 63. The searches led to the seizure of one short firearm, one blank-firing weapon, 68 grams of cocaine, 35 grams of heroin, 17 grams of hashish, 8 grams of marijuana, 1 gram of pink cocaine, 9,700 euros in cash, two cars, and various items related to criminal activity. Among the recovered items were also several scooters that had been reported stolen earlier.
The arrested individuals are accused, depending on their degree of involvement, of drug trafficking, illegal possession of weapons, receiving stolen goods, and belonging to a criminal organization. The competent court has ordered the provisional imprisonment of the main investigated individual.
