The Equality Department of the Torrevieja City Council will launch the children's workshop 'Dismantling Stereotypes' during June in schools and the Summer Concilia School 2026.

The program, funded by the Provincial Council of Alicante, aims to foster a free and egalitarian vision among young children, questioning traditional gender roles and stereotypes associated with boys and girls. Through child-adapted dynamics, children will understand that they can develop their interests, skills, and abilities without limitations imposed by social labels.
The workshops will be held at the educational centers CEIP Inmaculada, CEIP Las Culturas, CEIP Amanecer, and CEIP Romualdo Ballester. Furthermore, their reach will be extended to participants of the Escuela Concilia Verano 2026, thus reinforcing the municipal commitment to value-based education from an early age.

"Questioning the preconceived idea that there are things for boys or for girls"

the Equality Department
The Equality Department highlights that this initiative seeks to promote respect, diversity, and the free development of personality in childhood, key elements for building a more just and egalitarian society. The activity is part of the subsidy granted by the Provincial Council of Alicante for programs and activities promoting equal opportunities and preventing gender-based violence, corresponding to the 2026 fiscal year.
With this initiative, the Torrevieja City Council places equality in the arena where it is truly built: in education and in the early stages of life. Acting from childhood is not only a pedagogical commitment but a strategic decision to form freer generations with critical thinking, unburdened by the barriers imposed by stereotypes.
