The Miguel Hernández Cultural Center in Orihuela hosted a conference on the history of the Silk Factory, an activity promoted by CIPFP El Palmeral to disseminate the local industrial past.

The event served to highlight one of the most significant stages of the local economy. The study, developed by teachers and students from CIPFP El Palmeral, is part of an educational innovation project that seeks to rescue from oblivion spaces linked to industrial heritage that no longer retain material remains.
During the presentation, it was recalled that silk production was a fundamental pillar for the city for centuries, giving rise to the well-known saying about the fame of Orihuela's square. The factory, inaugurated in 1928, became a national benchmark and employed hundreds of women in spinning and winding tasks before its closure in 1977.
The research was made possible thanks to intense documentary work, which includes archival photographs and direct testimonies from people linked to the plant's activity. The authors of the work highlighted the importance of transmitting this legacy to future generations to understand the social and economic evolution of the municipality.
