This event, which transforms the neighborhood into an open-air museum filled with poetry, music, and painting, has consolidated itself as one of the most relevant cultural events in the city and the region. This year's investment is 76,980 euros, 8,000 euros more than last year, and is carried out through a public tender, a modality applied since 2024.
The initiative, promoted by the Department of Culture, led by Anabel García (Vox), has a participatory nature, where artists, collectives, and institutions collaborate selflessly. The origin of the murals dates back to 1976, when various associations paid tribute to the poet by painting murals with images and poems from his life in a transitional atmosphere, shortly after Franco's death. The Consistory revived this popular festival in 2012.
During the three days of celebration, various cultural, artistic, and musical activities will take place in Oriolet and Previsión streets, and in the squares of San Isidro and Ermita de San Isidro. Scheduled activities include theatrical routes, children's workshops, inflatables, an art market, a tourist train, performances by music bands, and an indoor football tournament.
The contract for the event's organization is divided into four lots: paint supply (5,210 euros), advertising and merchandising (14,561 euros), activities and emergency plan (26,660 euros), and production (30,548 euros). The City Council has included clauses for rescheduling the event in case of adverse weather conditions, ensuring safety and proper technical execution.
Among the novelties, a tourist train will be included, covering Plaza de la Soledad, Calderón de la Barca street, the City Hall, and the San Isidro Murals. There will also be guided and theatrical routes of 45 minutes, where actors will interact with the public, combining historical and artistic dissemination with dramatizations in front of the murals and architectural elements of the route.
