This contract, with a budget of 287,044 euros and a 24-month execution period, is part of the Segura Demarcation Hydrological Plan. The main objective is to improve knowledge about fish populations and their relationship with eutrophication processes, as well as the ecological and trophic state of these water bodies.
The results obtained will allow for the definition of specific action proposals for each reservoir. Among the planned measures are actions to prevent fish mortality episodes and the implementation of plans for the elimination of allochthonous species.
The work will include determining the presence and biomass of fish species using hydroacoustic techniques and direct sampling. Additionally, the Minimum Environmental Volume will be calculated in the studied reservoirs, providing valuable information to assess risks associated with low water reserve levels.
Among the reservoirs selected for the study are Cenajo, La Pedrera, Fuensanta, Puentes, Santomera, Talave, Camarillas, Alfonso XIII, Algeciras, Valdeinfierno, La Cierva, Judío, Anchuricas-Miller, Crevillente, Ojós, Argos, and Taibilla. Four of these will undergo a more detailed analysis, including high-resolution bathymetry and sediment characterization.
