The judicial proceedings, promoted by animal protection organizations, have concluded with an agreement between the parties. The defendant has accepted a twelve-month prison sentence, which will be suspended as it does not exceed the two-year legal limit, and a four-year ban on any activity related to animals, including their ownership and cohabitation at home.
The events took place during the summer of 2022, when the animal suffered a severe heatstroke due to prolonged exposure to high temperatures while tied up on a solarium. The injuries resulting from this situation caused organic hemorrhages that led to the dog's agonizing death, a case that generated significant social impact at the time.
Initially, the prosecution requested a higher sentence of eighteen months in prison. However, after several weeks of negotiations, this resolution was reached, which, according to the organizations involved, is essential to continue criminally prosecuting animal abuse and raising awareness about the importance of reporting situations of suffering.
