The decision to close the facilities, which were comprehensively renovated with an investment of over one million euros and opened in October 2025, was made after reports presented by the technician responsible for the work and the municipal project supervisor. The closure is expected to last approximately two weeks.
According to municipal sources, the measure was adopted based on technical recommendations and to ensure user safety, avoiding risks to their physical integrity in case of further breakage. The City Council has requested the contracting company, Pavasal, to conduct an urgent expert assessment to determine the reasons for the fractures and implement the necessary corrective measures.
The council has regretted the inconvenience caused to users and recalled that the broken panels were 12-millimeter thick tempered glass, costing 46,000 euros for the seven panoramic courts.
Specialized companies indicate that the breakage of these safety glasses can be due to various factors, such as direct impacts, installation defects, excessive pressure on anchors, structural movements, or vibrations. High temperatures alone do not explain the breakages without prior expert assessment, although they could be a factor if they have generated significant thermal differences.
