This distinction was achieved after an external audit that evaluated 90 strategic indicators, where the service reached an overall score of 82%. The coordination of this project was led by a Cardiology specialist.
The evaluation particularly highlighted two key areas: the excellence of the facilities and the care provided to patients and their families. The results obtained surpass the national average in several indicators, reflecting the service's commitment to a comprehensive approach that considers both the clinical situation and the emotional and family environment of the patient.
The Cardiology team has implemented a structured care plan to support patients from admission and reduce uncertainty during their hospital stay. Additionally, the center has set up specific spaces for communicating sensitive clinical information behind closed doors, thereby enhancing privacy and trust.
In terms of patient and family care, the hospital also offers a specific consultation for familial cardiomyopathies, a condition with a high prevalence in the Vega Baja region. This resource allows for closer and more specialized monitoring of affected individuals and their families.
The recognition also values the service's commitment to continuity of care. Professionals encourage users to be attended, whenever possible, by the same reference team, a measure that promotes greater perceived safety and can contribute to improved clinical outcomes.
Beyond medical technology, Cardiology has implemented measures to enhance the inpatient experience, such as the sleep and rest protocol, which regulates noise levels and nocturnal lighting intensity to promote adequate recovery. The certification acknowledges the effort to create an environment that respects patient privacy and dignity, including a call system using codes in waiting rooms to protect the confidentiality of personal data.
