The Consorcio de Bomberos de Castellón (Castellón Firefighters Consortium) intervened in the forest fire declared in Benicarló, in the El Puig area, around 1:45 PM on Monday.

The fire affected scrubland and abandoned cultivation and necessitated traffic closures on the CV-138. The deployed resources included two fire crews and two forest coordinators from the Consortium, along with ten forest firefighter units from the Generalitat (Regional Government), three of them air-transported, and seven aerial means.
The fire was stabilized at 10:00 PM, although work continued in the area overnight to advance the extinction efforts and prevent potential re-ignitions.
The operational team reminded the public of the need to exercise extreme caution due to a day marked by heat and a high risk of fire. They also stressed that any column of smoke or fire should be reported immediately by calling 112.
