The Civil Guard has carried out an operation against drug trafficking and electricity fraud, resulting in the dismantling of two indoor marijuana plantations located in Benicarló and Torreblanca. The operation seized 1,361 cannabis plants and abundant material for intensive cultivation of this substance.
The investigations led to the discovery of two facilities specifically prepared for indoor marijuana production, equipped with advanced systems for ventilation, climate control, lighting, and air extraction.
The first intervention took place in an industrial warehouse in Benicarló, where investigators detected anomalies in the electricity supply and technical systems associated with marijuana cultivation. Following judicial authorization, the property was searched, revealing several rooms conditioned for intensive cannabis production. 494 plants in various growth stages were found, along with water tanks, ventilation, and lighting systems. Surveillance cameras and mobile phones were also seized.
As a consequence of this action, a 44-year-old man was arrested, attributed with crimes against public health and electricity fraud.
The second operation was conducted in a villa in Torreblanca, where a large-capacity indoor production center was located. During the search, infrastructure equipped with lighting, ventilation, extraction, climate control, and air filtration systems was discovered. Agents seized 867 marijuana plants in an advanced flowering stage and various technical materials.
During the inspection, a handgun with a loaded magazine was also found hidden within the cultivation infrastructure. At the time of the operation, a 29-year-old man was arrested, investigated for alleged crimes against public health, electricity fraud, and illegal possession of weapons.
The competent court subsequently ordered the provisional imprisonment of the detainee related to this second operation.
