Genaro Rey, representing the Safor Teika Athletics Club, will travel to Lima (Peru) to compete in the Masters Ibero-American Athletics Championship, an event scheduled from May 22nd to 27th. The athlete will participate in the 4-kilogram hammer throw on Sunday, May 24th, at 3:00 PM (Peruvian time) and in the heavy hammer throw on Monday, May 25th, at 8:00 AM. He enters the competition with the second-best mark in his category, giving him a strong chance to win a medal.
As a master thrower, Rey boasts an impressive record of 41 medals in Spanish Championships, including 9 gold, 24 silver, and 8 bronze. Throughout his career as a hammer thrower, he was the absolute champion and record holder in Castilla-La Mancha for 13 years, during the 1990s and early 2000s, representing the region in all national championships.
Furthermore, he holds M-50 and M-55 records in Castilla-La Mancha, M-55 and M-60 records in Aragón for heavy hammer, and records in the M-60, M-65, and M-70 categories in the Valencian Community. Currently, he is the Spanish master runner-up in hammer and heavy hammer in the M-65 category, and this year he was proclaimed runner-up in the M-70 heavy hammer.
