The team from La Safor has wrapped up its excellent 2025-2026 season in the National Segunda FEB League. Although promotion was not the initial goal, the team reached the final phase after an almost perfect first half of the campaign, which saw a slight decline in the second half of the league.
The players, led by Alejandro Mesa, were eliminated in the round of 16 for promotion against CB Morón de la Frontera, from Seville. The first leg was won by the Andalusian team by a 15-point margin, a difference that the Valencian team could not overcome in the return match, played this past Saturday in Gandia.
Despite winning the return match 63-56, the victory was not enough to overcome the point difference, leaving Proinbeni out of the competition. The Municipal Pavilion was completely full and had a spectacular atmosphere, with the unconditional support of the fans.
“"The match was intense. Proinbeni wanted to win, but couldn't. They lacked the accuracy in outside shots that characterized them during the regular season. Nor did they have the luck of hitting two consecutive three-pointers to break the game open. The opponent relied on their experience with veteran players who were not influenced by the hostile atmosphere."
Before the decisive match, UpB Gandia paid a well-deserved tribute to the players, coaches, and directors who were part of the last promotion playoff to Primera FEB (formerly Leb Oro) 20 years ago.
