The renowned English Chamber Orchestra arrives in Castellón to commence its tour across Spain. The performance is scheduled for May 12 at 7:30 PM in the Symphonic Hall of the Auditori i Palau de Congressos, promising an evening of classical music.
The concert will be led by the Valencian maestro Roberto Forés and will feature pianist Domenico Codispoti as a guest soloist. The repertoire will focus on two major figures of classical music: Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga and Ludwig van Beethoven.
The program will open with Arriaga's overture, a piece noted for its elegance and compositional freshness. Following this, the audience will enjoy Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4, a work considered revolutionary in its genre. After an intermission, Beethoven's Symphony No. 4 will be performed, showcasing the German composer's more luminous and balanced side.
The English Chamber Orchestra is one of the most prestigious chamber orchestras in the world, with a history that includes a record number of recordings and numerous international tours.
Founded in 1948, the English Chamber Orchestra is internationally recognized in the field of chamber music. Although initially focused on baroque repertoire, it later expanded its musical catalog to the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries, maintaining an ensemble inspired by the orchestras of Mozart's era.
Conductor Roberto Forés, who serves as the principal guest conductor of the English Chamber Orchestra since the 2024/2025 season, has a distinguished international career. He has received awards in competitions such as the Evgeny Svetlanov Conducting Competition and the Luigi Mancinelli International Opera Conductors Competition. His training at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and his experience as principal conductor of the Orchestre National d'Auvergne underscore his international prominence.
With this performance, the Institut Valencià de Cultura (IVC) strengthens the symphonic programming of the Auditori de Castelló, solidifying the city's position as a reference point in international classical music circuits.
