The Diputación de Castelló will present next Thursday, May 28th, the two stages of La Vuelta 2026 that will take place in the province on August 27th and 28th. The event will place the Castellón territory in the international spotlight of cycling.
The official event will unveil the details of the sixth and seventh stages of the Spanish tour. The sixth stage, entirely within Castellón, will start from Alcossebre and finish in the city of Castellón after 176 kilometers. This stage will pass through municipalities such as Alcalà de Xivert, Les Coves de Vinromà, Albocàsser, Serra d’en Galceran, Benlloc, Cabanes, or Benicàssim, among others.
The riders will face notable climbs such as the Serratella pass, the Bandereta pass, or the Desert de les Palmes. The main attraction will be the final ascent to El Bartolo, featuring a 3.5-kilometer dirt road section located just 16 kilometers from the finish line in Castellón. This will be the first time La Vuelta traverses this enclave in Benicàssim.
The seventh stage will start in Vall d’Alba and finish in Valdelinares (Teruel). Before leaving Castellón territory, the route will include demanding points such as the Remolcador pass or the Alt de Zucaina.
The president of the Diputación, Marta Barrachina, has highlighted that the organization is working to ensure the passage of La Vuelta through Castellón combines 'exigency and enjoyment'. The technical director of La Vuelta, Kiko García, and former cyclists Joaquim ‘Purito’ Rodríguez and Ángel Vicioso will also participate in the presentation.
The Diputación considers that the presence of La Vuelta reinforces the institutional commitment to sport as a driver of tourism and economic promotion for the province. According to the organization, the race mobilizes nearly 3,000 people and generates approximately 250,000 euros daily in accommodation and catering.
