The monarch was welcomed at the headquarters on the Borriol road by the president of the Food Bank, Santiago Miralles; the president of the Spanish Federation of Food Banks (Fesbal), Pedro Miguel Llorca; the Secretary of State for Agriculture, Begoña García; and the mayoress of Castellón, Begoña Carrasco. Other authorities also joined, such as the Minister of Social Services, Family and Childhood, Elena Albalat; the president of the Provincial Council, Marta Barrachina; the Government sub-delegate in Castellón, Antonia García Valls, or the delegate of the Consell, Susana Fabregat.
Doña Sofía toured the facilities, where she spoke with the organization's representatives, as well as with the volunteers who make its operation possible and representatives of collaborating companies. The emerita also inaugurated the 'Carro Solidario' space, a project that helps vulnerable families and individuals choose the products they need through a points system.
During the visit, some residents approached the doors to greet the monarch, who was surrounded by a large security detail.

Minister Albalat highlighted the Conselleria's support for new care models to improve the response to food poverty, citing the support for the Carro Solidario as an example. For her part, Barrachina acknowledged the Food Bank's work in guaranteeing the basic needs of the most disadvantaged and recalled the Provincial Council's commitment to the entity, renewing the collaboration agreement endowed with 65,000 euros.
Queen Sofia will also attend this Thursday the XXIX Congress of the Spanish Federation of Food Banks, which is being held at the Auditori i Palau de Congressos and will be attended by the president of the Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca.
