Artificial intelligence (AI) has become an ally in preserving the memory of elderly people in Castelló. Thirty users from the Active Aging Center will receive a biographical book on July 1st, crafted from their own memories and experiences.

The initiative is part of a workshop on AI and memory promoted by the Department of Senior Citizens of the City Council of Castelló. Over several sessions, participants have shared life episodes through a voice system that, using artificial intelligence, has organized these narratives into personalized biographies, available in both physical and digital formats.
The application, named VersedIA, originated in the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the Universitat Jaume I (UJI) and is designed for anyone to use without needing technological knowledge or writing skills. The goal is to make it easy for seniors to preserve and pass on their personal legacy.
Beyond the final product, the project has served as a cognitive stimulation exercise. Participants have worked on memory, attention, and communication while reconstructing episodes from their childhood, youth, or working life, turning their memories into an organized narrative.
The mayor of Castelló, Begoña Carrasco, highlighted that this experience shows AI can also have a social and human dimension. She noted that the tool helps combat unwanted loneliness, promotes active aging, and preserves for future generations the personal stories of those who have contributed to building the city.
The delivery of the 30 books will take place on July 1st in an event presided over by the mayor and the Councilor for Senior Citizens, Clara Adsuara. Each volume will capture a lifetime of memories transformed into legacy through technology.
