This volume of actions, amounting to 748 euros per inhabitant, includes road projects, public transport, hydraulic infrastructure, forestry actions, airport improvements, and pending claims regarding the coast and commuter rail services.
“"The province of Castellón is on the Generalitat's investment map. Investing in mobility is investing in opportunities, employment, and quality of life."
Among the most notable actions is the future Ceramic Axis, a road infrastructure with an investment exceeding 150 million euros. This project seeks to improve the connection of the province's main industrial cluster with the state network and European corridors. The Generalitat has already tendered the project drafting and plans to start a first phase to connect the CV-21 with the CV-10, improving accessibility to industrial areas such as Onda and l'Alcora.
In public transport, the Generalitat is promoting an investment plan of 114 million euros to modernize the bus network and the TRAM of Castellón. Four interurban bus corridors have been renewed, and four more are planned, benefiting over 600,000 users. Regarding the TRAM, investments of 4.4 million euros are being executed to improve infrastructure and renew the fleet with electric and accessible units, including the extension of Line 1 to Grao and the planning of a future Line 2 to Vila-real, passing through Almassora.
The investment plan also includes the definitive unblocking of the Castellón West Ring Road, with an investment of 37.2 million euros, and the recovery of forest infrastructures damaged by storms, with almost 30 million euros. In hydraulic matters, 140 million euros are being executed to modernize wastewater treatment plants and improve sanitation in municipalities such as Benicàssim, Burriana, Oropesa, and Vinaròs.
Finally, the evolution of Castellón Airport has been highlighted, which recorded a 15% year-on-year increase in passenger numbers during the first four months of 2026, with 16 regular routes scheduled for this year, including new connections with Bologna and Manchester starting on June 1. However, the delay of the Government in coastal regeneration works and the lack of execution of pending investments for the commuter rail plan have been lamented.
