The Plaça Major in Alzira transformed into a true festival for public education. The Artistic Gathering for Public Education, organized by the AFA Coordinator of Alzira in collaboration with the striking teachers' collective, served to highlight family support for the demands for improvements in the city's educational centers.
The event began with a presentation by Macarena Tabacco, a teacher at IES Jaume I. Representatives from the AFA of Alzira's three high schools presented, through a dramatized dialogue, the main deficiencies of the secondary schools. Throughout the afternoon, musical performances, poetry recitals, and manifesto readings by family associations and teachers were interspersed.
The main stage was the center of activity, with around thirty interventions. Notable figures in Valencian song, such as Òscar Briz and Pau Alabajos, participated, along with Agus Gamino, Toni de l'Hostal, the local group Mala, and the project Skargots de Mr. Fem, each performing brief sets.
Educational centers also played a prominent role with poetry recitals by students from the Josep Maria Parra, Rei En Jaume, and La Murta institutes. The Escola de Rock offered a live concert.
Local tradition was present with an exhibition of 'traditional dance performers' to the sound of 'dolçaines i tabals' by the Colla Les Raboses of Alzira. The Trio d'Arxi provided chamber music.
Following manifestos from the teaching and cultural sectors, the square united in singing the emblematic “Tio Canya” by Al Tall in Toni Santos's version, culminating with the energy of the “Xaranga Indefinida”.
In parallel, the "Zona Menuda" hosted workshops for crafts, face and belly painting, storytelling with El Gran Jordiet, and entertainment by the clown Pupetes. There were also creative displays of mural art, sculpture, and architecture.
