The PSPV-PSOE of the Provincial Council of Castellón will propose a new line of financial aid for small municipalities, aiming to boost the creation of affordable rental housing in municipal buildings.

The proposal, stemming from a shared demand by many inland towns, seeks to address the housing access problem in municipalities with limited resources. Socialist provincial deputies, Rhamsés Ripollés and Ruth Sanz, visited Ares del Maestrat to gain firsthand knowledge of a municipal project that already includes three affordable rental apartments and the town's future pharmacy.
The mayor of Ares del Maestrat, José Luis Marqués, highlighted the need for a specific Diputación plan for these types of initiatives, as the investments are costly for small municipalities. He noted that without such aid, towns like Ares must rely on provincial plans or wind energy funds, while still facing other basic needs.
Ripollés assured that the PSPV-PSOE will advocate for the Diputación to allocate "sufficient resources" from its reserves for this issue, stating that "all administrations must do their part" to guarantee the constitutional right to housing.
Meanwhile, Sanz emphasized that the lack of housing "is conditioning the future of inland municipalities and, especially, the opportunities for young people to build their lives" in their hometowns, advocating for efforts to prevent them from seeking their future elsewhere.
