The mayoress of Castellón, Begoña Carrasco, today presented a new municipal initiative, "Castellón Barrio a Barrio" (Castellón Neighborhood by Neighborhood), which will bring the Local Government Board to tour the different districts and neighborhoods of the city in the coming months. The aim is to make residents participants in municipal management in a closer way, promoting active listening and citizen participation.
In this first itinerant session, held at the South City Council Office, the tender for the renovation works of this building was approved. The project, with a budget of €600,000 and an execution period of about six months, anticipates that the new facilities will be operational by the spring of 2027. The building will house the Basic Primary Care Center for the South District, thus dignifying the conditions of basic Social Services.
The Councilor for Urbanism and Infrastructure, Sergio Toledo, detailed that the comprehensive reform of the property, which is 71 years old, will create a built area of 403.10 m². The new facilities will include six individualized attention zones, two multidisciplinary rooms, a multipurpose room, a central skylight for natural lighting, and two adapted restrooms, one with a baby changing station.
The deputy mayor of the South District, Antonio Ortolá, highlighted that these works represent a significant step towards modernizing facilities that have long needed intervention. The government team will continue to advance with new actions, listening to citizens' proposals.
The decentralization program will continue next month with the next itinerant Local Government Board, which will take place at the Grau City Council Office on June 18.
