The city of Castelló has prepared a summer full of activities, with over 250 free events for all audiences, and all its beaches recognized with the Blue Flag.

Aiming to revitalize neighborhoods and the coastline, Castelló City Council has organized an extensive summer program focused on active leisure, community, and sustainability. The return of the Blue Flag to Serradal beach this year completes the full set of distinctions for all municipal beaches.
Serradal beach is solidified as Castelló's 'great slow beach,' offering a tranquil space respectful of the environment, with well-being-oriented activities such as Taoist Exercises and Chi kung sessions. The 'Biblioteques del Mar' (Seaside Libraries) are introducing new features like board games and daily newspapers.
The Department of Environment and Sustainability will launch an environmental awareness campaign on the northern beaches, focusing on understanding and conserving the coastal ecosystem, addressing topics like seagrass meadows and waste management.
The Sports Board is offering beach activities, including volleyball courses for youth (ages 10-16) at Gurugú beach, aquafitness sessions, and the Pinar summer pool open until September 6. Free classes in GAP, aquatic functional training, and dance rhythms will also be available.
Community engagement initiatives like 'Magia en los Barrios' (magic shows), 'A l'estiu tot lo món viu' (cultural performances), and summer cinema (9 screenings) will bring life and citizen participation to the neighborhoods.
In anticipation of the total solar eclipse on August 12, visible from Castelló, special events are planned at the 'Escenario Sol' (Pinar beach/Planetarium) and 'Escenario Luna' (Gurugú beach). These will feature renowned science communicators Javier Santaolalla and Josep Calatayud, along with other experts and collaborators.
The eclipse day will include special screenings at the Planetarium dome, family workshops (ages 8-14) on the Solar System, pinhole cameras, and water rockets. Musical and theater performances will also precede the astronomical event.
The summer season also sees the renovation of Ferrandis Salvador avenue and the installation of new beach furniture, funded by the European Union. Additionally, the new TRAM service for Castelló, with direct beach connections, has been activated.
