Castelló City Council and the Ministry of the Interior have renewed their agreement until 2030 to integrate the Local Police into the VioGén system, strengthening protection for gender violence victims.

The agreement, recently signed by the Government's sub-delegate in Castelló, Antonia García Valls, and the mayor of Castelló, Begoña Carrasco, consolidates a collaboration active since 2011.
The agreement mandates updating the technical and IT mechanisms for the Local Police's integration into the VioGén system. This tool from the Ministry of the Interior centralizes police, judicial, and prison information, enabling risk assessment and improved protection measures.
The Ministry of the Interior will promote training for system use, supported by the Gender Violence Unit of the Government Sub-delegation. In turn, Castelló City Council will apply protocols from Organic Law 1/2004 and enhance specialized training for officers involved.
Antonia García Valls highlighted the importance of this renewal given the persistence of gender violence, advocating for strengthened inter-administrative coordination to improve prevention and protection for female victims.
Begoña Carrasco stated that gender violence must be treated as a state issue and emphasized institutional cooperation as key to enhancing response effectiveness. She added that eradicating this violence relies not only on police action but also on prevention and early education in values.
