Ground and air resources are attempting to control and extinguish the fire that broke out on Tuesday afternoon at a landfill located in the municipality of Caudete de las Fuentes, in La Plana de Utiel-Requena. The causes of the fire are still unknown, but it is showing positive progress.
According to the Provincial Consortium of Firefighters of Valencia, the fire began shortly after 5 PM in the area known as the Los Marcos road.
Four firefighting crews from Requena, Chiva, and Silla, along with two units of forest firefighters from the Generalitat, are working in the area. An aerial resource from the regional administration and heavy machinery from the company responsible for the landfill are also present.
The fire's evolution is positive, according to the Consortium, and it is expected that work will need to continue in the area for the next few hours.
