The Vila-real City Council has reiterated its request to the Valencian Government to submit the necessary documentation to continue processing the project for the future Torrehermosa Health Center. The building, located in the former municipal library, is still awaiting its construction license fifteen days after the second requisition from municipal technical services.
The mayor of the city, José Benlloch, has denied accusations from the Popular Party blaming the council for the delay. "It is absolutely false that the City Council is blocking the project. For this government, the new health center is a priority," he stated.
According to the mayor's details, the Generalitat submitted the license application on February 27, 2026, almost two years after the property was transferred by the Spanish Government in October 2024. Municipal technicians identified deficiencies, such as the lack of a technician's signature and professional college endorsement, which were requested on March 23, 2026. The Generalitat partially corrected the issue on March 26, but documentation is still missing.
A responsible declaration, essential for completing the administrative process, remains pending. "We have interpreted the law with the utmost flexibility to expedite the project, but the documentation must be complete," indicated Benlloch, who confirmed contacts with the Conselleria de Sanitat (Health Department) to resolve the situation.
The City Council regrets that "some political representatives prefer to generate confrontation and misinformation" instead of collaborating. The municipal government recalls that it had already vacated and relocated services such as the Adults' School (EPA) and the children's library to facilitate the launch of the new health center, "without receiving financial support or alternatives from the Generalitat".
