The Vila-real City Council will receive €29,129.46 from the Generalitat Valenciana for the promotion and normalization of the Valencian language carried out during the previous year.

The resolution, published last Thursday in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV), places Vila-real among the municipalities with the highest economic allocation, matching the amount received by the Valencia City Council. This grant is due to the evaluation of the justification report submitted by the council, which details a wide range of actions primarily promoted by the Department of Linguistic Normalization.
Among the subsidized initiatives, the operation of the Department stands out, which has a Valencian promotion office integrated by three full-time career civil servant linguistic technicians and a municipal regulation for linguistic normalization in force since 1994. Valencian courses for the adult population and numerous promotion campaigns in the educational, cultural, and social fields have also been valued.
In the educational field, the report includes initiatives such as the school radio program Ràdio-activitat, the municipal educational guide Recull, the awarding of the 27th Premi Sambori, school cinema sessions in Valencian, theatrical performances for secondary students, and the organization of the school and civic Correllengua.
Regarding cultural programming, campaigns for the tourist promotion of Vila-real in Valencian, concerts of music in Valencian, farces, puppet shows, and musicals from the Viu l'estiu al Termet program, as well as guided theatrical visits to the Museu Etnològic have been taken into account.
The subsidy also recognizes actions supporting reading in Valencian, such as subscriptions to the magazines Camacuc and El Temps, the acquisition and presentation of books in Valencian, and the publication of works by local authors. The campaign of Voluntariat pel valencià and the work of signage and public wayfinding in Valencian complete the subsidized activities.

"From the City Council, we make a strong commitment to normalization as we invest in actions aimed at educational centers, associations, publications... without knowing if we will receive this aid later or not."

Santi Cortells · Councilor for Linguistic Normalization
The Councilor for Linguistic Normalization, Santi Cortells, has positively valued this grant and thanked the work of the department's three technicians, emphasizing the council's commitment to defending the language, stating that "we have always been a benchmark and an example throughout the Valencian Country".
