A man and a woman were injured early Sunday morning after a traffic accident in Vila-real caused their vehicle to plunge into the Mijares River from the Vora Riu path.

The car fell into a reed bed within the riverbed and was partially submerged, complicating rescue efforts. Provincial Firefighters Consortium personnel were dispatched to the scene.
Firefighters set up a vertical rescue system using ropes and a stretcher to evacuate the two occupants. Emergency services reported that extrication was not necessary as the injured individuals were not trapped inside the vehicle.
After being rescued, both injured parties received medical attention from emergency services at the accident site.
