The Ceramic Rally competition has been suspended following a tragic accident on the CV-189 road, between L'Alcora and Onda. The incident resulted in the death of co-driver Samuel Ortiz and serious injuries to the driver, who was transported to the Hospital General Universitario de Castellón.
The deceased, Samuel Ortiz, was competing as part of team number 32 alongside his brother Jordi Ortiz. The accident occurred during the second stage of the event, held on Friday afternoon/evening.
Three fire crews from the Provincial Firefighters Consortium of Castellón, from the Plana Baixa and Espadán-Mijares stations, were dispatched to the scene as both occupants were trapped inside the vehicle. Rescuers successfully extracted them.
Medical services from the organization and a SAMU unit provided assistance to the driver before his transfer to the hospital. Emergency services confirmed the co-driver's death at the accident site.
Given the severity of the events, the Organizing Committee of the 2026 Ceramic Rally has decided to suspend the event as a sign of mourning and respect. The Rally Club Costa Azahar has extended its condolences to the family and friends of Samuel Ortiz and wished a speedy recovery to Jordi Ortiz.
