The Burriana City Council today recognized the academic excellence of nine local students, awarding six Cañada Blanch scholarships for a one-month linguistic immersion in London.

The Burriana City Council hosted the official award ceremony for the Cañada Blanch Scholarships and the Awards for Best Educational Trajectory, an annual event that distinguishes the excellence, effort, and academic performance of the municipality's students. The event was attended by key municipal authorities, led by the mayor, Jorge Monferrer, and the Councilor for Education, Alejandro Clausell, along with the president of the Cañada Blanch Foundation, Juan Viña, and other foundation representatives.
The event gathered a significant representation from Burriana's civil and economic society, as well as the educational sector, with principals and teachers from the town's high schools—IES Jaume I, IES Llombai, and Colegio Salesiano. The awardees were accompanied by their families.
A total of six students received scholarships that will allow them to pursue English studies in the United Kingdom for one month. This linguistic immersion, organized by the foundation, includes a visit to the Spanish Institute Vicente Cañada Blanch in London and the Embassy of Spain. The scholarship recipients are Aitana Benagues Sánchez and Lucas Castellano Núñez (IES Jaume I); Marina Rios Granell and Claudia Rodríguez Alemany (Colegio Salesiano); and Carmen Guijarro Font and Luisa Vicent Garrido (IES Llombai).
Additionally, three students were recognized with a 500 euro prize for their excellent academic records. In this category, the awards went to Claudia Cercós Mechó (IES Jaume I), David García Mor (Colegio Salesiano), and Adrián Diago Iborra (IES Llombai).
The event featured a lecture by Ana Lleó Bono, a Doctor of Economics from the University of Cambridge and a native of Burriana, who was a past recipient of the Cañada Blanch Scholarship. Lleó shared her research experience, which will take her to the University of Chicago next academic year, serving as an inspiration to the young students.
The Councilor for Education, Alejandro Clausell, congratulated the young recipients, stating that “this city council will always stand by the talent, effort, and dedication of our students.” He also thanked the Cañada Blanch Foundation and other entities for their collaboration in “promoting academic excellence and offering the best development opportunities to our youth.”
