Villarreal CF CEO Fernando Roig Negueroles has confirmed that the club's squad will see "few changes" for the upcoming season, prioritizing economic sustainability.

Fernando Roig Negueroles, CEO of Villarreal CF, has provided an overview of the club's current economic and sporting situation. Speaking on Ràdio Vila-real, he made it clear that the main objective for the upcoming campaign is to maintain squad stability, indicating that "there will be few changes this year."
Roig Negueroles argued that the current team is "very balanced and very complete," and that significant changes are not necessary every year. He noted that while there have been years with many squad movements, the club currently believes it has a "quite competitive" core without needing major transfers.
The club's policy for this summer focuses on "adjusting and reducing the pace of investment" to ensure sustainability. The CEO recalled that a decision was made to take risks and operate at a higher economic level, achieving the goal of competing in Europe. However, he emphasized that "we cannot maintain this level of spending and effort every year," and that accounts must be balanced for the 26-27 season, even considering the possibility of player sales if necessary.
Regarding the economic situation, Roig Negueroles describes it as "good," although he acknowledges that even with European competition, the club is "slightly in deficit." He warned against excessive debt, citing other teams, and stressed the need to return to the "reality" of lower investment than in the past two years, without losing competitive capacity.
On the squad, he endorsed the group led by Iñigo Pérez, highlighting that the club has a "higher than normal" budget to be ambitious. He admitted that while they wish to keep players for many years, "if they are very good and we cannot keep them" due to significant financial offers, sales might occur to generate capital gains. He mentioned Pape Gueye as a player with "a lot of market value," but assured that "currently there are no offers."
Regarding Iñigo Pérez as the new coach, he praised his intelligence, talent, and work ethic, considering it a "very difficult" decision with little room for error. He also lauded the young academy midfielder Carlos Maciá, stating he "would be worth 30 million euros" if he played elsewhere and that he "will be a Spanish national team player."
