Two occupants rescued from vehicle that plunged into Mijares River in Vila-real

Consortium firefighters had to install ropes to access the car, which had gone off the road and fallen into the riverbed.

Two people have been rescued by firefighters from the Provincial Consortium of Castellón after their vehicle went off the road and fell into the Mijares River, near Vila-real.

Firefighters from the Castellón Consortium have carried out the rescue of the two occupants of a vehicle that had plunged into the Mijares River, in the municipality of Vila-real. The vehicle went off the road from the Camí Vora Riu, falling into the river and becoming partially submerged in a reed area.
According to the Firefighters Consortium, the emergency services received the alert around 11:45 PM this Saturday. Two crews from the Plana Baixa Park were quickly dispatched to the scene.
Firefighters performed a complex vertical rescue operation, using ropes to access the vehicle. The two occupants, a man and a woman, were not trapped and did not require extrication. They were evacuated using a rescue stretcher.
The Information and Coordination Center for Emergencies (CICU) had received a prior alert, around 11:30 PM, to attend to two people on the Borriana-Vilareal road. A basic life support unit (SVB) and a SAMU were dispatched to the location, and they ultimately transferred the affected individuals to the Hospital de la Plana.
