The National Police have arrested an individual in Vila-real for an attempted jewelry theft and subsequent violent resistance. Another suspect with a similar physical description is being sought.

Street snatch-and-grab thefts of jewelry or bags are common. Thieves target their victims to violently rip off the loot and flee, attempting to evade police. One such incident occurred last Friday in Vila-real.
The National Police are aware of two victims in the municipality, as well as others in Castellón, with a matching physical description of the alleged perpetrator, who has now been arrested. Around 7:00 PM, the 091 dispatch received the first call from Avenida Italia, reporting an attack in a park where an assailant tried to snatch a necklace from a victim's neck, but failed.
The attacker fled on foot, and officers began a search. Based on the fugitive's physical description, officers located him, but he ignored their commands to stop. Officers initiated a pursuit, first by car and then on foot, eventually discovering the suspect had hidden under a vehicle.
When officers attempted to extract and arrest him, he resisted forcefully, kicking and punching the officers, causing injuries that required subsequent medical attention. The perpetrator of the attempted violent robbery, along with charges of assault and disobedience, was eventually handcuffed and taken to police headquarters.
Officers are aware of at least one other report in Vila-real and some other cases in Castellón.
