Democracy, constitutionalism, coexistence, and the need to preserve spaces for dialogue among different political sensitivities were among the topics discussed at the Ágora Nules Cycle conference, headlined today by Nicolás Redondo Terreros. The event, titled “Spain: Between Polarization and Consensus,” drew hundreds of attendees.
Redondo, a lawyer and a prominent figure in Spanish democratic socialism, presented a current issue that prompts reflection on how to strengthen democratic institutions and revive a political culture based on respect and agreement. Coming from a family deeply connected to the history of the labor movement, he is the son of Nicolás Redondo Urbieta, the historic general secretary of the UGT. Following his political career, he now chairs the “Foundation for Freedom,” actively participating in public debate on democracy and constitutionalism.
The Mayor of Nules, David García, introduced themes related to the conference, which Redondo then analyzed for the audience. The speaker was questioned on political polarization, the culture of consensus, his Basque experience, democracy and citizenship, and youth and the future, among other current and future political issues.
The Ágora Nules Conference Cycle is an initiative promoted by the Nules City Council in collaboration with the Nules Business Association and UNED Castelló-Vila-real. Its aim is to foster dialogue, reflection, and the exchange of ideas on society's major challenges, seeking to establish itself as a forum for plurality and free thought.
