A municipal worker from the Public Works department of the Burriana City Council died this Tuesday in a tragic accident on Avenida de Cañada Blanch, near Camí Fondo. The incident occurred when a private vehicle collided with a municipal truck. As a result of the impact, the worker was run over. An 83-year-old man sustained contusions and was taken to a health center.
Emergency services, including the Provincial Firefighters Consortium of Castellón, SAMU ambulances, Burriana Local Police patrols, and members of the municipal government team, were dispatched to the scene to coordinate the situation. The Information and Coordination Center for Emergencies (CICU) initially reported that the accident involved a car and a truck, and that a woman had been run over. The SAMU medical team could only confirm the victim's death.
Security forces and competent authorities are investigating the causes of the accident. Initial hypotheses suggest that the car impacted the Public Works truck, which was parked by the roadside, and the subsequent collision resulted in the municipal worker being run over.
“"We join in the grief of the family, colleagues, and friends of our worker."
The Burriana City Council has conveyed its condolences and support to the family, colleagues, and friends of the deceased worker. The mayor of Burriana, Jorge Monferrer Daudí, has decreed two days of official mourning, during which the council's flags will fly at half-mast. A minute of silence has been called for Wednesday at 12:00 PM in front of the town hall, and events planned for Friday in honor of the patron saint of civil servants have been suspended.
