The two Valencian teams in the third tier of Spanish football have been placed in group 2, alongside teams from Aragon, Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, Madrid, Murcia, and Andalusia. This configuration has led to it being dubbed the 'group of death'.
Among the opponents is the historic Spanish club Zaragoza, returning to the third tier after 77 years. The Aragonese team, with a record including a UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, a Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, six Copa del Rey titles, and a Spanish Super Cup, are considered clear favorites for promotion. The group will also feature teams such as Murcia, Huesca, Nàstic de Tarragona, Alcorcón, as well as the reserve teams of Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid.
The 2026-2027 season will commence at the end of August, with the definitive fixture list to be announced on June 30th. The first-placed team in each group will be directly promoted to Segunda División. Teams finishing from second to fifth place in each group will compete in a play-off for the remaining two promotion spots. The bottom five teams in each group will be relegated to Segunda Federación.
