The aim of this initiative is to facilitate access to higher education and reduce the cost of commuting to university centers. Mayor Tania Baños highlighted the local government's commitment to continue supporting young people so they can study with equal opportunities, ensuring no financial obstacle hinders their future. This call for applications complements other recently launched measures, such as a new free study room with extended hours.
The program has a total budget of 30,000 euros, which will be distributed among all admitted applications, with a maximum amount of 80 euros per student. The aid will subsidize transport expenses, whether incurred via public transport or private vehicle.
The Councilor for Youth, Manel Agea, explained that this is a pilot program, based on the number of university students in the municipality. The objective is to ensure that transport is not a barrier to accessing university and obtaining an education.
Eligible applicants must be registered in La Vall d'Uixó before the application deadline, be between 17 and 30 years old, and have pursued official undergraduate studies in person at any Spanish university during the 2025-2026 academic year. The aid is compatible with other scholarships or grants for the same purpose.
The application period will remain open until July 22nd. Applications can be submitted preferably through the electronic headquarters of the council's website or in person at the Citizen Attention Office. The Town Council plans to process the aid during September, coinciding with the start of the new academic year.
