The Generalitat has started this week road safety improvement works on the CV-222, in the municipalities of Betxí, Vila-real, and Alquerías del Niño Perdido, with an approximate investment of 600,000 euros.

The intervention affects the section between kilometer points 0+234 and 6+497. The main objective is to improve the road's conservation status and enhance traffic safety by renewing the road surface in the most deteriorated areas.
The CV-222 is part of the local road network of the Comunitat Valenciana. This road connects the CV-10, in Betxí, with the CV-18, in Burriana, and links at Alquerías del Niño Perdido with the N-340 and the AP-7. This connection makes it one of the main access routes to the major road corridors in the province of Castellón.
In 2025, this road registered an average intensity of 6,103 vehicles daily, of which 5% corresponded to heavy traffic.
Between kilometer points 0+000 and 6+000, the road has one lane per direction and shows pavement damage, including cracks, deformations, and material loss in some areas. These defects affect the adherence between the pavement and tires, which is why the action includes milling and replacement of the wearing course to rehabilitate the road surface.
In the section between kilometer points 0+234 and 3+379, the works focus solely on the right lane, as the left lane was asphalted in 2024 and is in good condition. From kilometer point 3+379 up to 6+497, the intervention is carried out on both lanes and also on the shoulders. The works have an estimated duration of three weeks.
