The Castellón Provincial Council has officially welcomed Onda-based pilotari Diego López to reaffirm its support for Valencian pelota and highlight the athlete's international projection.

The headquarters of the Castellón Provincial Council hosted an official reception for the pilotari from Onda, Diego López, led by the Deputy of Sports, Iván Sánchez. The event served to symbolize institutional support for the traditional Valencian sport and underscore the international profile of the athlete from Castellón.
Iván Sánchez emphasized that Diego López represents the province in international competitions, acting as one of Castellón's main sporting ambassadors. This reception is part of the Council's strategy to keep Valencian pelota alive and accessible to the public.
The provincial institution continues its support for the Copa Profesional de Escala i Corda, an annual competition held in various trinquetes (pelota courts) across the province, aiming to promote professional practice and preserve this historic discipline within Valencian sporting heritage. Furthermore, the Council allocates specific annual grants to clubs and athletes from Castellón.

This pilotari represents the province in international competitions and acts as one of Castellón's main sporting ambassadors.

Federation representatives also attended, including the president of the Valencian Pelota Federation, Vicent Molinés, who positively assessed the stability of the agreement with the Council in recent years, particularly regarding support for clubs and sports schools.
Sánchez congratulated the Valencian Pelota Federation on their results at the recent World Championship held in Argentina, as well as the president of the International Federation of Pelota, Pedro López, on his recent appointment. The day concluded with the presentation of a commemorative World Championship jersey, signed by Diego López, to the deputy.
